Graphic Design
I have worked in graphic design since the 90s, and am used to producing designs for a wide range of different applications such as packaging, magazines, adverts, DVD menus, eBooks and websites. I am experienced in most types of printing workflows, and have worked through the transitions from delivering colour separated films, to the current PDF systems. I have a good all round knowledge of different colour system which has come in handy on projects where CMYK, Pantone and on screen RGB colours have all had to match.
I started out using CorelDRAW which I learned in college and moved onto also using PageMaker and QuarkXPress. Photoshop was a revelation to me when I first started to use it though and once Adobe started bundling it with InDesign and Illustrator, I’ve rarely used any other companies design software. Adobe gets a lot of bad press for its proprietary formats and security holes, but I think their creative software is second to none, and I eagerly look forward to each new release and finding out what’s new.
I first started using 3D software when I got a copy of Bryce free with a magazine, but moved on to using Swift 3D, which is great for producing vector animations and then onto Cinema 4D which I now use for most of my 3D needs. I find 3D software can be a valuable tool to a graphic designer especially when you’re working for a client who hasn’t got any pictures, but wants something quickly.
